Melanie completed her undergraduate degrees at Monash University and Bond University.  She graduated with a Masters of Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern QLD and was awarded the APS College of Clinical Psychologists Student Prize upon its completion.  Melanie has completed advanced training in EMDR, Gestalt Psychotherapy, Emotions-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy.  She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, is registered with AHPRA as a Clinical Psychologist and the Resolution Institute as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.

Melanie has a particular interest in working with Complex PTSD/trauma, dissociation, complex anxiety disorders, depression, grief, loss and major life transitions in adults and adolescents.  She is an accredited EMDR Practitioner with EMDRAA.  Melanie takes an evidence-based approach which values collaboration and a strong therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe, supported, and understood.  She works with her clients to develop an individualized formulation and treatment plan that considers their unique life experiences and situation.  Melanie has worked in a range of clinical settings including HeadSpace, Indigenous Mental Health and Private Practice.

Melanie values a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental style and understands that therapy can be challenging.  She takes a strength-based approach, facilitating a space where clients can safely explore their circumstances and selves.  Equally, Melanie values the clients’ goals for change, working collaboratively toward the outcomes they seek.  She adheres to ethical and professional practice guidelines with integrity.
